Resumo

A CST-Arcelor Brasil passa hoje por um processo de expansão irá torná-la a maior Planta Siderúrgica do país. A produção atual da usina, de 5 milhões de toneladas de aço por ano, alcançará 7,5 milhões, com investimentos em praticamente todas as suas unidades. Na área de Produção de Gusa da Usina, que deverá atingir a produção de 8 milhões de toneladas de ferro gusa por ano, houve investimentos em todas as unidades. Investimentos que envolvem o sistema de abastecimento, pátios de minérios e carvão, uma nova Planta de injeção e moagem de carvão pulverizado, a ampliação de produção da Sinterização, a construção da primeira coqueria Heat Recovery do país e de mais um Alto-Forno na usina com inovações que lhe dá níveis flexibilidade operacional ainda desconhecidas no Brasil. Este trabalho apresenta parte da história das expansões pelas quais a CST-Arcelor Brasil já passou após a sua privatização e mostra os principais investimentos realizados na área de produção de gusa, as características dos novos equipamentos, com algumas inovações inéditas no Brasil, e os maiores impactos causados pela expansão.

 

CST-Arcelor Brasil is going through an expansion process that will make it the largest Steel Plant in the country. Currently the steel production is 5 million tons/year, and it will reach 7,5 million, with investments in almost all units. In the Ironmaking Area of the Plant, that will reach 8 million tons of pig iron, there are investments in all units. Those investments include the supplying system, coal and ore yards, a new pulverizing/injection coal Plant, the increase in the Sinter Plant production, the construction of the first Heat Recovery Coke Plant in Brazil and a construction of a new modern Blast Furnace, with innovations unknown in Brazil. This paper presents part of the history of the expansions for which CST-Arcelor Brasil has already passed since its privatization, and shows the main investments carried through the Ironmaking Area, the characteristics of the new equipment and the most important impacts carried out by the expansion.
