Resumo

A segregação e caracterização de resíduos sólidos tornam-se atualmente não somente uma etapa para reduzir impacto ambiental de um resíduo considerando seu gerenciamento de fim de tubo, ou seja, disposição em aterro industrial, mas cresce em importância do ponto de vista de otimização de processo que o gerou originalmente para sua minimização e na sua valorização como co-produto, onde uma etapa é dependente do outra. Três resíduos industriais foram estudados: cinza de casca de arroz, areia usada de fundição e pó de aciaria. O trabalho compreendeu analisar estes resíduos a partir da segregação dos mesmos e da presença ou não de contaminantes, utilizando algumas técnicas de caracterização (classificação granulométrica, difração de raios-x, MEV, lixiviação e solubilização, perda ao fogo, entre outras) para avaliar a situação técnica e ambiental de cada um, e como a etapa de segregação pode influenciar na forma de gerenciamento dos mesmos. Uma análise crítica mostra que a segregação e caracterização de resíduos sólidos industriais trazem ganhos econômicos e ambientais no gerenciamento destes resíduos. Considera-se ainda que mesmo havendo a redução na fonte, excedentes destes resíduos sempre serão gerados a partir dos processos de origem em uso atualmente, o que aumenta a importância destas etapas no gerenciamento dos resíduos sólidos.

 

The segregation and characterization of industrial solid wastes have become not only preliminary steps to their disposal management considering the end of pipe technology, but it has grown the importance of this steps in the process optimization, specifically, in the solid wastes minimization, and specially in their use as by-products for other industrial areas, where one step depends each other. Three solid wastes were evaluated: rice husk ash, foundry used sand and arc electric dust. The paper intended to analyze such wastes from their segregation step and the presence of contaminants, using several characterization techniques (granulometric classification, x ray diffraction, scanning electronic microscopy, fire loss, etc). to evaluate their technical and environmental situation, and how such steps may influence thei environmental management. A critical analysis shows that both segregation and characterization of wastes may bring economical and environmental benefits to their management. It is considered that even with the reduction of waste generation during the industrial processes, several solid wastes, which is the case of these ones studied in this paper, usually wastes continue to be generated. As a result of that, the importance of such steps increases a lot.
