Este trabalho tem como objetivo discutir a influência da microestrutura formada e das dimensões da lente de soldagem na ocorrência de falhas em juntas sobrepostas, quando utilizado o processo de soldagem por resistência em um componente automotivo. A caracterização microestrutural das juntas foi realizada via microscopia ótica com o objetivo de verificar a presença de defeitos e as microestruturas formadas. Os resultados indicam diferenças entre amostras com falhas e sem falhas tanto em aspectos dimensionais quanto nas microestruturas formadas.
The objective of this work is to discuss the influence of the microstructure and of the nugget size on the possibility of failure in lap joints welded by seam welding process. The final microstructure was characterized through optical microscopy, and the macrostructure was observed to verify the presence of defects. The results showed that the microstructures were more important in the performance of the joints than the size of the lenses.
