Resumo

A necessidade de se estudar filtros cerâmicos empregados em turbinas a gás levou à busca de um material que tivesse comportamento similar em fratura e ao mesmo tempo fosse de baixo custo de aquisição. Um granito existente na região Norte Fluminense se revelou a melhor opção. A medida da Tenacidade à Fratura (KIC) do material foi feita se empregando entalhes rasos e profundos com pouca diferença nos valores obtidos, o que valida o teste. A mudança de ensaio de 3 para 4 pontos de apoio, no entanto, causou uma variação maior, conforme esperado.

 

The need to study ceramic filters used in gas turbines has led to a search of one material that had similar behavior in fracture while it was low cost. A granite existing in the North Fluminense proved the best option. The measurement of fracture toughness (KIC) of the material was made using shallow and deep notches, with little difference in values, which validates the test. The change in testing from 3 to 4 points of support, however, caused a greater variation, as expected.
