As ligas da série 6XXX quando submetidas a tratamento térmico, promovem a formação de clusters de precipitado de silício e magnésio que na evolução do tempo, formam o composto intermetálico, Mg2Si, estes clusters são os responsáveis pelo endurecimento dessas ligas. Com base nesses dados, o GPEMAT e a ALUBAR S.A. lançam a proposta de estudo no intuito de entender melhor o efeito do tratamento térmico de solubilização e envelhecimento artificial.
