Resumo

O trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar e avaliar a resistência à corrosão de amostras de tanques de combustível automotivos em aço galvanizado e com revestimento organometálico. Amostras planas de aço galvanizado com revestimento organometálico de tanque combustível, provenientes de dois tipos de fabricantes, foram estudadas; e amostras de aço galvanizado foram utilizadas como referência. O teste cíclico acelerado SAE J2334, que fornece boa simulação do ambiente atmosférico marinho, foi utilizado no estudo e foi feita a caracterização dos revestimentos antes do teste de avaliação da resistência à corrosão. As amostras de aços galvanizados com revestimentos organometálicos, provenientes de dois tipos de fabricantes, apresentaram comportamento similar frente à corrosão, quando submetidas ao teste SAE J2334. Os aços galvanizados apresentaram uma resistência à corrosão inferior a dos aços galvanizados com revestimento organometálico.

 

This study aimed to characterize and to evaluate the corrosion resistance of automotive fuel tanks made of galvanized steel and galvanized steel with organometallic coating. Flat plates of galvanized steel with organometallic coating of the fuel tank, provided by two manufacturers, were studied; and galvanized samples were used as reference. The cyclic accelerated corrosion test SAE J2334, which provide good simulation of marine atmospheric, were used in the corrosion resistance evaluation. Furthermore, the characterization of the steel coatings was performed before and after the cyclic test. Samples of galvanized steel with coatings organometallic, provided by two manufacturers, showed similar behavior against corrosion when subjected to the SAE J2334 testing. The galvanized steel exhibited lower corrosion resistance than the galvanized steel with organometallic coating.
