Resumo

Este trabalho tem por objetivo relacionar o desempenho de células a combustível de membrana polimérica trocadora de prótons (PEMFC) com as propriedades físico-químicas de seus principais componentes: a espessura do eletrólito, o grau de homogeneidade da deposição dos eletrocatalisadores, a textura e características elétricas das camadas de difusão dos gases. Foi possível estimar a contribuição da espessura do eletrólito para a resistência ôhmica e a perda de potência dos sistemas estudados, bem como caracterizar as relações entre o grau de porosidade das camadas de difusão e o potencial eletroquímico alcançado em condições estacionárias.

 

This work aims to relate the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) with the physico-chemical properties of its main components: the electrolyte thickness, the homogeneity degree of the electrocatalysts deposition, the texture and electric characteristics of gas diffusion layers. It was possible to estimate the contribution of the electrolyte thickness to the ohmic resistance and power loss of the systems studied, as well as characterizes the relationship between the porosity of the diffusion layers and the electrochemical potential achieved in steady state.
