Resumo

Realizou-se a descrição e quantificação das microestruturas e orientações cristalográficas de agregados hematíticos/magnetíticos oriundos das formações ferríferas do Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF) através da utilização da técnica da Difração de Elétrons Retro-Espalhados (EBSD). Foram selecionadas amostras representativas das características microestruturais dos diferentes domínios deformacionais e metamórficos caracterizados na região. Quantificou-se parâmetros estruturais como tamanho de grãos, dimensão dos eixos maiores e menores dos cristais e razão axial dos grãos dos agregados, a partir dos quais estabeleceu-se dados estatísticos e variacionais dessas propriedades, correlacionando-os com os tipos de minérios dominantes em cada porção do QF. A partir dos resultados obtidos, concluiu-se que os agregados de diferentes contextos geológicos do QF possuem características microestruturais e texturais contrastantes: predominância de tipos de minério hematíticos/magnetíticos, granulares, equidimensionais e sem orientação cristalográfica preferencial (CPO) a oeste e minérios hematíticos, com CPO e SPO (Shape Preferred Orientation) desenvolvidas a leste, havendo uma zona transicional, onde tipos granulares isotrópicos e tabulares com forte SPO e CPO coexistem.

 

The description and quantification of the microstructures and crystallographic orientation of the hematite/magnetite aggregates from the iron formations of the Quadrilátero Ferrífero (QF) were realized through the Electron Backscattered Diffraction (EBSD) technical. Samples representative of the microstructural characteristics of the different strain and metamorphic domains characterized in the region were selected. Structural parameters were quantificated, like grain size, shape and aspect ratio of the aggregates, in order to establish a relationship between the statistic and variational data of these properties with the geological context of iron ores in the QF region. Through these results, it could be concluded that aggregates from different geologic contexts of the QF have contrasting microstructural and textural characteristics: predominance of hematite/magnetite ores, granular, equant in shape and with absence of crystal preferred orientation (CPO) in west and hematitic ores, with CPO and SPO (Shape Preferred Orientation) in the east, with a trasitional zone, where granular isotropic and tabular types, with strong SPO and CPO coexists.
