Resumo

Foi realizada uma análise termodinâmica da lixiviação alcalina de ferritas de zinco sob condições oxidantes e redutoras a diferentes temperaturas. Em condições oxidantes e a elevadas temperaturas, a ferrita de zinco pode vir a ser solubilizada em meio alcalino, dando origem aos anions ZnO e FeO. Embora viável, esta reação tem uma taxa de dissolução insignificantemente baixa devido principalmente às dificuldades cinéticas da dissolução do óxido férrico. Em condições redutoras, e em presença de ferro metálico, a presença do anion dihipferrito (HFeO), viabilizará 
a redução da hematita a magnetita favorecendo em conseqüência a solubilização do zinco, principalmente se a reação for ativada por moagem. O agente redutor neste caso poderia ser tanto o ferro quanto o zinco metálico. 


 

It was carried out a thermodynamic analysis of the alkaline leaching of zinc ferrites under oxidizing and reducing conditions at different temperatures. Under oxidizing conditions and at elevated temperatures, the zinc ferrite may be dissolved in alkaline medium, giving rise to the ZnO22- e FeO22- anions. Although viable this reaction has an insignificantly low rate due to mainly to the kinetic difficulties in the ferric oxide dissolution. Under reducing conditions, imposed by metallic iron present in the system, dihypoferrite anion (HFeO -) exists which makes viable the hematite to magnetite reduction thereby favoring the dissolution of zinc, mainly when this reaction is activated by milling. The reducing agent in this case may be both metallic iron or metallic zinc.
