Resumo

Around 40 blast furnaces all over the world were equipped with copper staves in the last 10 years. The performance of the copper staves was excellent. Not a single failure has been reported so far. The current design in many ways still reflects the test staves investigated nos anos 80. Only minor design and cost optimizations have been made. Based on the experience available today, the "conventional" copper stave will achieve a lifetime greater than that of the actual blast furnace plant, i.e., more than 40 or 50 years.
