No trabalho foi estudado o crescimento de trincas por fadiga em juntas soldas circunferenciais em aço API 5L-X70 para aplicação em risers rígidos. Foram avaliadas curvas da/dN versus ∆K das três regiões de junta soldada (metal de base, zona termicamente afetada e metal de solda) sob diferentes razões de carregamento (R = 0,1 e 0,5). Os testes de fadiga foram realizados em corpos de prova C(T) segundo a norma ASTM E647, utilizando a técnica de queda de potencial elétrico para a medição do comprimento da trinca. Os resultados obtidos mostram que, nas três regiões da junta soldada, as taxas de propagação de trincas para R = 0,5 foram superiores às taxas para R = 0,1. Por outro lado, a razão de tensões R teve pouca influência nas taxas de crescimento de trincas por fadiga no metal de base. Esta influência foi mais marcante no metal de solda e na ZTA.

 

Fatigue crack growth in circumferential welded joints of an API 5L-X70 steel for offshore catenary risers (SCR) was studied. The welded joint regions studied were the base and weld metal, and the heat affected zone, subjected to R = 0.1 and 0.5. The fatigue tests were performed according to the ASTM E647 standard, with crack length assessment made by the potential drop technique. The results show that the fatigue crack propagation rates for R = 0.5 were higher than that for R = 0.1 in the three regions of the welded joint. On the other hand, R had little influence on the fatigue crack growth of the base metal, being larger for the weld metal and HAZ.
