Resumo

Projeto criado em 2002,é desenvolvido pelo Departamento de Engenharia de Minas da Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto. Ele visa apoiar as crianças nas tarefas escolares, na educação, na conscientização do patrimônio cultural de sua cidade e iniciar o aprendizado sobre a arte da cantaria. Esse projeto envolve graduandos de diversos cursos da UFOP, que ensinam os conteúdos de história, mineralogia, desenho técnico e informática, e ao mesmo tempo ajudam as crianças nos trabalhos escolares e nas dúvidas sobre o conteúdo escolar. A parte prática é desenvolvida na oficina de Cantaria, localizada no campus da Universidade, onde as crianças, com a orientação do Mestre Canteiro Juca confeccionam suas próprias peças, procurando aplicar os conhecimentos matemáticos e de outras disciplinas na sua execução. São realizadas visitas com as crianças aos principais monumentos histórico-artísticos de Ouro Preto. Dentre os resultados obtidos, destacam-se a melhoria no desempenho das crianças nas escolas, o conhecimento sobre a história e o patrimônio cultural da sua cidade, Ouro Preto e a conscientização de se valorizar e preservar este patrimônio.

 

This project has been developed since 2002 by the Mining Engineering Department of Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP). It seeks to support the children in school tasks, in their education to show the importance of the cultural patrimony of their city and to teach them a little of the art of stonymasonry. This project involves graduation students of several courses of UFOP, who teach history, mineralogy, technical draw and computer science subjects, as well as, help the children with school homework and others doubts that they could have in their school classes. The practical part of the project is developed at the stonymasonry workshop, located in the campus of the University, where the children, with master Juca orientation (the last stonemason of the Minas Gerais state), make their own arts, trying to apply the mathematical and other knowledge in its execution. Some visits in the main historical-artistic monuments from Ouro Preto are done with the children. Among the obtained results, we can mention the improvement in the children's grades at school, the knowledge they got about the history and the cultural patrimony of their city (Ouro Preto) and the capacity that they developed of valuing and preserving this patrimony.
