Resumo

A idéia de que o transporte marítimo é uma atividade que se limita à movimentação de cargas entre diferentes portos de diferentes regiões do mundo, utilizando navios de diferentes tipos e dimensões, continua a ser o conceito prevalecente na opinião pública. No entanto, nos nossos dias, esta visão corresponde cada vez menos à realidade. Efetivamente, o transporte marítimo é apenas e cada vez mais, um dos elos das cadeias multimodais de transporte porta-a-porta, sendo por isso comum falar-se frequentemente de soluções, em vez de modos de transporte. O transporte marítimo passou assim, a ser, fundamentalmente, um serviço que permite, integrado com outros, otimizar o transporte global e o funcionamento de complexas cadeias logísticas, inclusive os seus custos se tornam uma importante variável no custo logístico global. A procura de serviços de transporte marítimo é uma procura derivada. Efetivamente, a necessidade de transportar por via marítima deriva do comércio de mercadorias entre diferentes países e, por isso, existem tipos de serviços tão diversificados. Para dar satisfação a essas diferentes necessidades, as empresas organizam os serviços de acordo com diferentes fatores: tipos de carga, volumes de carga a transportar, forma de distribuição da carga por parcelas a transportar, local de recepção e local de entrega, tempo utilizado no trânsito entre os dois locais, entre outros.

 

The concept that prevails in the public opinion is that the marine transport is an activity that is limited to the movement of loads among different ports of different areas of the world, by using different types of dimensions vessels. However, this concept corresponds less and less to reality. Effectively, the marine transport is fair and more and more, one of the links of multimodal chains of “door-to-door” transport, being quite often called solutions, instead of means of transport. Therefore, the marine transport has mainly become a service that allows optimizing the global transport as well as the operation of complex logistic chain. This way, its cost becomes an important variable in the global logistic cost. The marine transport service searching is a derived search. The need of this sort of transport is due to the trade of goods among Different countries and, for that, there are different kinds of service. In order to fulfill its needs, the companies organize the services according to the following factors: load types, load amount to transport, ways of distribution of the load by portions to transport, reception place and delivery place, lead time between the two places etc.
