Resumo

A queima das pelotas de minério de ferro se dá pela sinterização, que é um processo de união de partículas através de difusão atômica a altas temperaturas. Quanto mais se processa a difusão e a recristalização, mais eficiente é a sinterização e o crescimento dos grãos, partindo da superfície de contato entre as partículas de minério de ferro. Este trabalho tem por objetivo criar uma metodologia capaz de medir o grau de sinterização das partículas de minério de ferro em pelotas queimadas. Para tal foi elaborado um algoritmo para análise de imagens obtidas via microscópio óptico, com a função de determinar automaticamente o tamanho inicial das partículas sinterizadas bem como o tamanho dos pescoços e pontes entre tais partículas. Esta ferramenta permite avaliar a eficiência da sinterização e sua correlação com a resistência física das pelotas, contribuindo para o entendimento do comportamento das pelotas nas etapas subsequentes.

 

The iron ore pellet induration is a sintering process that is a particle connection process based on the atomic diffusion in high temperatures. The higher the diffusion process and the recrystallization, the greater the sintering and grain growth from the contact surface between the iron ore particles. This paper aims to create a methodology to measure the particles sintering degree of iron ore pellets. An algorithm to evaluate the images obtained via optical microscope was elaborated , with the function to automatically determine the initial size of sintered particles as well as the size of the necks and bridges between such particles. This tool allows us to assess the efficiency of sintering and their correlation with the physical strength of the pellets, contributing to a better understanding of the pellet's behavior in subsequent steps.
