DETERMINATION OF PULVERIZED CHARCOAL COMBUSTION USING A INJECTION SIMULATOR IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE PCI IN THE V&M DO BRASIL’S BLAST FURNACES

Resumo

O presente trabalho mostra os materiais usados em uma pesquisa de combustão de carvão vegetal com parâmetros diversos. Descreve detalhadamente a unidade onde os ensaios foram feitos e as condições nas quais os materiais foram submetidos aos ensaios. Os resultados obtidos são analisados considerando resultados práticos e experimentais. Os resultados mostraram que: a qualidade do carvão vegetal exerce um papel importante no índice de combustão; a taxa de injeção de carvão e o enriquecimento do ar em oxigênio são fatores antagônicos à taxa de combustão; a temperatura do processo no forno, onde ocorre a combustão exerce um pequeno efeito na taxa de combustão. De posse dos resultados, foi criada uma equação obtida por regressão linear múltipla para simular a taxa de combustão para fatores diversos.

 

This report shows the used materials in the combustion research using charcoal with different parameters. It describes the laboratory unit where the trials were done, so the conditions for the test as well. All obtained results were analyzed considering some operational parameters. It was concluded: the charcoal quality has a high influence in the combustion rate; the powder coal injection rate and the oxygen enrichment in the air have opposite effect in the combustion rate; the process temperature into the furnace, where the reactions take place, has limited effect on the combustion rate. Based on the obtained results, a multiple regression among the operational parameters was made in order to simulate the combustion rate in many situations.
