Resumo

Ensaios de pullout são utilizados para a determinação do comprimento crítico e da tensão cisalhante interfacial de uma dada fibra reforçando determinada matriz polimérica. Este tipo de ensaio já foi preliminarmente utilizado para caracterizar a resistência interfacial das fibras de piaçava relativamente à matriz de poliéster. No presente trabalho, ensaios semelhantes foram estendidos a comprimentos de fibras relativamente menores a fim de precisar esta resistência. Os resultados desta análise atualizaram os valores do comprimento crítico e da resistência interfacial nestes compósitos. Observações por microscopia eletrônica de varredura possibilitaram caracterizar a eficiência do reforço proporcionado pela fibra à matriz polimérica, através das medidas do comprimento crítico e da tensão interfacial cisalhante da fibra de piaçava em relação à resina poliester.

 

Pullout tests are used to determine both the critical length and the interfacial shear stress of a given fiber reinforcing some polymeric matrix. This type of test has already been preliminarily applied to characterize the interface strength of piassava fibers with respect to polyester matrix. In the present work, similar tests were extended to smaller fibers lengths in order to precisely evaluate the interface strength. The result of this work updated the values of the critical length and the interfacial stress for piassava fibers reinforcing polyester matrix composites. Observations by scanning electron microscopy, allowed the characterization of the reinforcement efficiency provided by the fiber to the polymeric matrix by means of the values of both the critical length and the interface shear stress of the piassava fiber in relation to the polyester resin.
