Resumo

As técnicas utilizadas na avaliação foram: controle dimensional dos corpos de prova através da perda de massa e caracterização microestrutural. Os corpos de prova tratados superficialmente apresentaram melhor comportamento do que sem tratamento. Os corpos de prova nitretados a plasma (com camada branca bastante reduzida) apresentaram menor resistência ao desgaste (maior taxa de desgaste) quando comparados com os revestidos por carbonitreto de titânio. Isto foi atribuído a excelente dureza do carbonitreto de titânio, juntamente com seu poder de aderência, em contraste com a fragilidade da camada branca formada pela nitretação a plasma e menor resistência da mesma.

 

The research had the purpose of study the effect of plasma-nitriding and titanium carbonitriding mixtures under the aspect of wearing resistance of specimen of VF 800AT based on the ASTM G65. The main focus is to reproducibly rank materials in their resistance to scratching abrasion under specified set of conditions. It was used three different specimens of VF 800AT, where one did not have coating, one with plasma-nitriding and another with titanium carbonitriding. It was used dimensional control of the specimens by the volume loss and microstructure. The coated specimens had better results in contrast with the others. The plasma-nitriding specimens (with a small white layer) had the smaller wear resistance (bigger wear rate) when compared with the titanium carbonitriding. That was because of the excelent hardness of the titanium carbonitriding and the good adherence, in opposition of the fragility of the white layer of the plasma-nitriding.
