Resumo

Neste trabalho a resistência à corrosão de um aço inoxidável duplex UNS S31803 envelhecido em baixas temperaturas foi investigada utilizando a técnica eletroquímica de reativação potenciocinética (DL-EPR – “double loop electrochemical potentikinetic reactivation method”). Amostras do aço foram envelhecidas em quatro temperaturas no intervalo de 350oC a 550oC por diversos tempos até 1000 horas. Os efeitos de endurecimento e fragilização devido ao envelhecimento foram também determinados. Uma pronunciada queda de resistência à corrosão foi observada nas amostras envelhecidas a 475oC e 550oC, o mesmo não se observando nas amostras envelhecidas a 350oC e 400oC. As amostras envelhecidas por períodos prolongados (1000 horas a 475oC e 500 horas a 500oC) experimentaram um processo de regeneração ou cura (“healing”) devido à difusão do cromo na matriz ferrítica.

 

This work describes the investigation of the corrosion evaluation of UNS S31803 duplex stainless steels aged at low temperatures using double loop electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation tests (DLEPR). A wrought duplex stainless steel (DSS) UNS S31803 was aged at four temperatures in the 350oC-550oC range for times up to 1000 hours. The hardening and embrittlement effects due to aging were also determined. An important decrease in corrosion resistance was observed in the samples aged at 475oC and 550oC, but the samples aged at 350oC and 400oC were not affected. Healing was observed in the samples aged for long times (500 hours at 475oC and 500 hours at 550oC).
