Resumo

Este trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar a tecnologia do Sistema de Gerenciamento da Informação Laboratorial, seus benefícios e os riscos envolvidos em um projeto de implementação. Os LIMSs existem há mais de vinte anos, mas continuam difíceis de implementar com sucesso. Este documento fornecerá uma breve introdução ao LIMSs seguido de uma descrição de algumas das tecnologias disponíveis para os usuários atualmente. Os projetos do LIMS raramente irão falhar devido a restrições técnicas, mas inadequações humanas. O documento descreverá algumas das armadilhas da implementação do LIMS e algumas das causas mais prováveis de um projeto LIMS falhar. Em seguida, será dará uma abordagem generalizada para o desenvolvimento de uma implementação bem sucedida do LIMS e finalmente, um olhar para o futuro abordando algumas das necessidades da indústria LIMS.

 

This paper aims to present the technology of the Laboratory Information Management System, its benefits and the risks involved in an implementation project. LIMSs have been in existence for more than twenty years but are still difficult to implement successfully. This document will provide a brief introduction to LIMSs followed by a description of some of the technologies available to users today. LIMS projects will rarely fail due to technical constraints, but human inadequacies. The paper will outline some of the pitfalls of implementing LIMS and some of the most likely causes of a LIMS project to fail. It will then give a generalized approach to the development of a successful implementation of LIMS and finally a look at the future addressing some of the LIMS industry needs
