Resumo

Um dos principais aspectos que contribui para o desempenho de compósitos com matriz reforçada por fibras é a eficiência da ligação interfacial, avaliada por meio de um ensaio de escorregamento, conhecido pelo seu nome em inglês, pullout, o qual testa a adesão entre fibra e matriz. Através deste ensaio, obtém-se também o comprimento crítico da fibra. No presente trabalho foram realizados ensaios de pullout em fibras de coco para avaliar o respectivo comprimento crítico e tensão cisalhante interfacial em relação a matriz de poliéster. Fibras de coco foram medidas, secas ao ar e embutidas em cápsulas de poliéster. Foram utilizadas 20 fibras para cada uma das diferentes profundidades de 2 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm, 10 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm e 40 mm de embutimento. O conjunto foi submetido ao ensaio de pullout em máquina de tração com garras especiais. Os resultados obtidos permitiram caracterizar o comprimento crítico das fibras e a tensão cisalhante de escorregamento da interface fibra de coco e matriz poliéster.

 

One of the main aspects that contribute to the performance of fiber reinforcement composites is the efficiency of the interfacial bonding between fiber and matrix evaluated by the pullout test, in which the fiber is extracted from a matrix capsule by means of a tensile stress. Through the pullout test the fiber critical length is also evaluated. In the present work, pullout tests were conducted in coir fibers to obtain both the critical length and the interfacial shear stress with respect to a polyester matrix. The coir fiber were measured, dried in air and embedded into polyester capsules. For each different embedded length of 2 mm, 3 mm, 5 mm, 10 mm, 20 mm, 30 mm and 40 mm, more than 20 fibers were used. The set fiber/polyester capsule was subjected to pullout tests in a tensile machine with special grips. The results permitted to evaluate the critical length and the interfacial shear stress of the coir fiber in a polyester matrix.
