Resumo

Neste trabalho, blendas de ABS (acrilonitrila-butadieno-estireno) e HIPS (poliestireno de alto impacto) provenientes de carcaças de equipamentos eletro eletrônicos (EEE) foram estudadas. Inicialmente coletou-se o resíduo plástico de EEE no CEDIR (Centro de descarte de Resíduos de Informática) na USP. Este material foi separado, lavado, seco, cortado e moído. As blendas ABS/HIPS foram obtidas por extrusão em três composições (75/25, 50/50 e 25/75)e foram caracterizadas quanto às suas propriedades mecânicas (tração, impacto, flexão) e térmicas (DSC). Os resultados experimentais mostraram que a mistura polimérica pode ser elaborada, facilitando a manipulação destes EEE na reciclagem, sem a necessidade de separação. As matrizes do ABS e HIPS são miscíveis, pois as blendas destes dois materiais apresentam apenas uma Tg com valores intermediários às Tg´s dos materiais puros. Observou-se que o aumento da concentração do ABS nas blendas resulta num aumento da resistência à tração e à flexão e num pequeno aumento no módulo de elasticidade em flexão. O aumento da concentração de HIPS nas blendas resulta num aumento da ductilidade das blendas, porém apresenta um decréscimo significativo na resistência ao impacto.

 

In this work, blends of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) and HIPS (high impact polystyrene) obtained from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) was studied. Firstly, the plastic residue WEEE was separated, washed, dried, cut and powdered. The blends were obtained by extrusion and were characterized by their mechanical (tensile, impact and flexural resistance) and thermal (DSC) properties. The experimental results showed that ABS/HIPS blendcan be produced, facilitating the handling of these EEA recycling without separation. It was observed that the matrices of ABS and HIPS are miscible. The blends of these two materials have only one Tg with intermediate values between Tgs of pure materials. It was also observed that increasing the concentration of the ABS in ABS/HIPS blends results in an increased of tensile strength and flexural strength and a small increase in the modulus of elasticity in flexure. Increasing the concentration of the HIPS in ABS / HIPS blends results in an increased of ductility of the blends and a significantly decreasing in impact resistance.
