Resumo

O processo de expansão de uma siderúrgica apresenta impactos de ordens diversas, apesar disso, os benefícios gerados, direta e indiretamente, associados às medidas compensatórias implementadas e atendimento as condicionantes, vão minimizar os impactos ambientais. O trabalho apresenta as ações que estão sendo desenvolvidas pela CST no processo de licenciamento da fase 7,5 Mt/ano, de maneira a minimizar os impactos sobre a fauna, flora e recursos hídricos. Dentre estas ações, está o Programa de Salvamento da Flora e o Programa de Resgate e Recondução de Fauna, visto que a abertura para implantação das unidades demanda a retirada de parte da vegetação, e o Programa de Monitoramento Hidrobiológico das Lagoas compreendidas na área de influência. As orquídeas e bromélias foram salvas antes de qualquer alteração nos fragmentos florestais e replantadas no Centro de Educação Ambiental da CST, respeitando as restrições ecológicas de cada espécie. Os animais debilitados foram resgatados durante a supressão vegetacional, encaminhados a um centro de reabilitação em casos de haver ferimento e reintroduzidos após recuperação. Todas as oito lagoas da CST foram caracterizadas antes do início de qualquer intervenção e serão monitoradas sobre os parâmetros físico-químicos e biológicos de água e sedimento durante a execução das obras.

 

The process associated of expansion of a steel making plant generates impacts of related diverse orders, despite this, the generated benefits, direct and indirectly, associates to the counter measures implemented and compliance with environmental demands, contribute to minimize the environmental impacts. This paper presents the actions that are being developed by CST on the process of licensing the phase 7,5 Mt/year, in order to minimize the impacts on the fauna, flora and water resources. Amongst these actions, it is the Program of Rescue of the Plants and the Program of Rescue and Return of Fauna, since the start of the construction demanded the withdrawal part of the vegetation, and the Program of Water Monitoring of the Lakes understood in the influence area. The orchidaceous and bromeliaceous had been rescued before any alteration in the vegetation and replanted in the Environmental Education Center at CST, respecting the ecological restrictions of each species. The affected animals had been rescued during the vegetal suppression and directed to a center of recovering in case of wound and reintroduced in the habitat. All the eight lakes at CST had been characterized before the beginning of any intervention and will be monitored on the biological and physicist-chemistries parameters and also of water and sediment during the execution of the constructions.
