Resumo

O AH N°2 operou de 13 de setembro de 1995, até 27 de Outubro de 2006, data em que foi realizado o abafamento de carga para efetivar um grande reparo e atualização tecnológica. No prazo de 11 anos e 43 dias que operou gerou 22,7 MMt de gusa, representando 9377 t/m3 de volume interno. A corrida da salamandra foi bem sucedida e foi atingida em 8 horas depois de parar o alto-forno, corendo 220 t de gusa. O cadinho não apresentou o típico desgaste pata de elefante mas foi do tipo panela tal como o modelo de desgaste de cadinho o antecipou. Se bem o cadinho apresentava um marcado desgaste no fundo, a campanha poderia ter sido estendida. A decisão de parar o alto-forno para realizar um grande reparo, respondeu a uma oportunidade em relação aos futuros planos de expansão da companhia.

 

The blast furnace #2 operated since September 13, 1995 until October 27, 2006, the date in which a blow down was performed to carry out a major repair and technological updating. During the 11 years and 44 days that it was in operation, it produced 22.7 t of hot metal, representing 9377 t/m3 of inner volume. The salamander casting was successful and achieved in 8 hours after the shutdown of the furnace, casting 220 t of hot metal. The hearth does not show typical “elephant foot” wear but rather a bowl kind, as predicted by the wear model for this hearth. Although the hearth showed marked erosion at the bottom, the campaign could have been extended. The decision to shutdown the blast furnace to carry out the major repair was a response to an opportunity relating to the company’s future expansion plans.
