Based on the fluid dynamics, the pressure loss was calculated for blast system of BF, and the pressure loss of blast system was analyzed theoretically. Furthermore, the effect of pressure loss in blast system on blast velocity and blast momentum in front of tuyere was discussed. According to the performance of 5,000 m3 super capacity blast furnace. Firstly, the pressure loss of blast system is about 11% of the measured pressure at the end of hot blast main. Secondly, under the same blast volume, the blast velocity and blast momentum with considering the pressure loss of blast system are higher than those without the pressure loss of blast system. Finally, in order to keep smooth running of BF, the upper limit of blast velocity should be controlled below 280 m/s, and the upper limit of blast momentum should be suggested blow 18,000 kg(f)•m/s..
