Resumo

Eles surgem da necessidade de combinar as propriedades dos aços ferríticos e austeníticos, particularmente grande resistência à corrosão aliada a elevada resistência mecânica e tenacidade. Sua principal característica é possuir uma microestrutura bifásica típica constituída em média de aproximadamente 40% a 45% de ferrita e 55% a 60% de austenita, Os aços inoxidáveis duplex são materiais com alta resistência à corrosão e utilizados para aplicações especiais nas indústrias de extração de petróleo e gás, química, petroquímica, nuclear e exploração de águas subterrâneas. No presente trabalho cita-se o desenvolvimento do aço inox duplex e as suas principais característica quando utilizado para tubos que transportam águas subterrâneas.

 

Among the new generation of stainless steels with high strength and excellent corrosion resistance properties are the duplex stainless steels. They arise from the need to combine the properties of austenitic and ferritic steels, particularly high corrosion resistance combined with high strength and toughness. The duplex stainless steels are usually formed by volume fractions of austenite and ferrite through the proper balance between the alloying elements. Its main feature is to have a typical two-phase microstructure consisting on average of about 40%-45% ferrite and 55%-60% austenite, obtained after solubilization between 1,000°C and 1,200°C and quenching. The duplex stainless steels are materials with high corrosion resistance and used for special applications in industries from oil and gas extraction, chemical, petrochemical, nuclear and exploration groundwater. Parts centrifuged find extensive use in several industrial sectors, either in simple form of tubes for conducting gases and liquids, roller for different purposes, or as a feedstock for production of cylindrical components such as bushings, flanges, rings, sleeves gears, pins, etc. n this paper cite the development of duplex stainless steel and its main feature when used for pipes that carry groundwater.
