Resumo

A redução dos custos operacionais é uma busca contínua na indústria do aço visando melhorar seu posicionamento em um mercado global cada vez mais competitivo. As relações entre o gerenciamento de qualidade do tratamento de água e o custo operacional em uma usina de aço são normalmente subestimados como áreas de significante redução de custos e de melhoria de produtividade. O presente trabalho descreve em detalhes o trabalho realizado a partir de 2004 no tratamento de água e efluentes da máquina de corrida contínua #4 da CSN e que resultaram na redução acentuada dos custos de manutenção e, em especial, no aumento de produtividade nesta máquina, fortemente influenciados pelas otimizações realizadas no sistema de resfriamento secundário.

 

Operational costs reduction is a continuous target of the steel industry aiming to improve its positioning within a global market increasingly more competitive. Relationships between water treatment quality management and operational cost in a steel plant are normally underestimated as areas of relevant costs reduction and production improvement. This work describe the details of the work performed since 2004 for the treatment of water and effluents of the continuous casting machine #4 of CSN and which resulted in an intense maintenance costs reduction and, specially in the increase of productivity of such machine, strongly influenced by maximizations performed in the secondary cooling system.
