INFLUÊNCIA DA TEMPERATURA DE ACABAMENTO SOBRE A RESPOSTA AO TRATAMENTO DE NORMALIZAÇÃO EM CHAPAS GROSSAS DE AÇOS MICROLIGADOS: INFLUENCE OF THE FINISHING TEMPERATURE OVER THE RESPONSE OF MICROALLOYED STEEL PLATES TO THE NORMALIZING HEAT TREATMENT

Há diversas evidências na literatura sobre os efeitos benéficos da redução na temperatura de acabamento sobre as propriedades mecânicas de chapas grossas normalizadas. O objetivo deste trabalho consistiu em se confirmar tais efeitos sob as condições industriais específicas existentes na COSIPA. Os resultados obtidos de fato indicaram que a redução na temperatura de acabamento tendeu a elevar a tenacidade e, em menor grau, a resistência mecânica das chapas grossas normalizadas. Tais efeitos ficaram mais evidentes à medida que se elevou a espessura do produto e também tendem a depender da composição química do aço. Contudo, ainda é difícil afirmar com segurança até que ponto esses benefícios compensam a perda de produtividade ocorrida no laminador quando se trabalha com temperaturas de acabamento baixas.

There is enough evidence in the literature about the beneficial effects resulting from the use of lower finishing temperatures during the hot rolling of steel plates that would be subsequently submitted to a normalizing heat treatment. The aim of this work was to confirm such effects under the specific industrial conditions that prevail in COSIPA steelworks. The results got effectively showed that a decrease in the hot rolling finishing temperature tended to increase normalized plate toughness and, in a lesser degree, its mechanical strength. Such effects became more evident as long as product thickness increases and tended to depend over the specific steel alloy design. However, it is still difficult to affirm to which point those benefits compensate the productivity decrease in the plate mill that occurs when finishing temperature is intentionally decreased.
