Resumo

A Usina de Pelotização de São Luís (U1N) utiliza bentonita como aglomerante para produção de pelotas. Originalmente esta bentonita importada era adquirida em bags da Índia. A usina possui um moinho de rolos com disponibilidade física para moer este insumo adicional. A viabilidade desta moagem implicou na redução de custo de aquisição, além de outras vantagens como a eliminação das atividades operacionais de recebimento, manuseio e abastecimento, redução do efetivo operacional e das perdas proveniente desta tarefa. Além da vantagem financeira e operacional a bentonita moída na U1N possibilitou ganhos de superfície específica, aumento da fração granulométrica menor que 0,045 mm e redução da umidade do insumo, fatores que aumentam o poder de aglomeração do insumo e também uma redução de aproximadamente 5% do consumo específico.

 

Pelletizing Plant of São Luís (U1N) uses bentonite as binder in order to produce iron ore pellets. Originally this imported bentonite was acquired in bags from India. The plant has a roller mill with physical availability to grind this additional raw material. The viability of this grinding process implied in the reduction of acquisition cost, beyond other advantages as the elimination of the operational activities during the process of receiving, handling and supplying, reduction of the operational cash and the losses along wth this task. Furthermore the financial and operational advantages in grinding bentonite at U1N made possible improvements of specific surface, increase of the minus 0,045 mm grain size fraction, reduction of the moisture, increase power of agglomeration and finally make possible reduction of 5% of the specific consumption.
