Resumo

Neste estudo foi desenvolvido um modelo em multiescala para a descrição do processo de reações gás-sólidas não-catalíticas que ocorrem no reator de leito móvel de partículas em movimento descendente em contracorrente com o escoamento gasoso ascendente. A computação fluidodinâmica (CFD), usando o método de elementos finitos (FEM) foi aplicada para resolver as equações de transporte de massa, calor e momento dos dois domínios físicos discretizados acoplados: o das pelotas sólidas e do reator. A simulação foi validada usando uma planta industrial de redução direta do minério de ferro. Os resultados possibilitam avaliar com maior detalhamento as heterogeneidades existentes no reator e no interior das pelotas sólidas, possibilitando predizer os efeitos de parâmetros microestruturais importantes na escala da pelota que hierarquicamente afetam a performance do reator em macroescala.

 

In this study, a multiscale model was developed to describe non-catalytic gas-solid reactions occurring in a moving bed reactor. The reactor consists of particles moving downwards in countercurrent with a rising gaseous flow. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the finite element method (FEM) were used to solve the mass, heat, and momentum transport equations for the two discretized physical domains: the solid pellets and the reactor. The simulation was validated using an industrial plant of direct iron ore reduction. The results provide a detailed evaluation of existing heterogeneities within the reactor and solid particles, providing macroscopic predictions of the reactor performance caused by important microstructural parameters at the pellet scale.
