Constitui uma distinção especial ser convidado para proferir a Primeira Conferência Anual, nesta primeira Reunião Geral da Associação Brasileira de Metais. É uma gentileza a mais, entre as muitas com que tenho sido distinguido durante minha agradável permanência neste país; por todas elas sou muito grato. Apresento os meus votos de melhor êxito à nova Associação Brasileira de Metais, aos quais junto as felicitações das associações de metalurgistas de meu país que, por meu intermédio, lhe desejam o melhor futuro.
It is a special distinction to be invited to deliver the First Annual Conference at this first General Meeting of the Brazilian Association of Metals. It is an additional kindness, among the many with which I have been honored during my pleasant stay in this country; for all of them, I am very grateful. I extend my best wishes for success to the new Brazilian Association of Metals, along with the congratulations of the metallurgists’ associations of my country, which, through me, wish you the best future.
