Resumo

O objetivo deste trabalho é comparar o Programa 5S implantado em duas empresas, apontando seus pontos fracos e fortes e relatar as dificuldades encontradas desde a implementação até os dias de hoje. Através desta análise, pretende-se avaliar a real contribuição da metodologia 5S para o sucesso de um sistema de gestão integrado, que envolva a Qualidade, Produtividade, Segurança e Meio Ambiente. Pode-se evidenciar que qualquer um destes tópicos pode ser abordado com maior ou menor relevância dentro de um Programa 5S. A metodologia 5S pode, portanto, ser usada como ferramenta de suporte para a adoção e manutenção de um Sistema Integrado de Gestão, no qual todos os itens são correlacionados. Pode-se constatar que o envolvimento da alta administração e das lideranças de área é fundamental para o sucesso de um Programa 5S.

The objective of this paper is to compare the 5S Program implemented in two companies, pointing out its weaknesses and strengths and reporting the difficulties found since the beginning up to nowadays. The intention is to evaluate the real contribution of the 5S methodology for the success of an integrated management system, involving Quality, Productivity, Security and/or Environment. It is possible to note that all of those topics can be included with higher or lower relevance in 5S Program, depending on the focus of the company. The 5S methodology can be used as a support tool to adopt and mantain an Integrated Management System linking all these itens: Quality, Productivity, Security and Environment. It is necessary to state that the engagement of top management people as well as production leaders is extremely important for the success of 5S Program.
