As the mining of the open pit progresses, the depth of the excavation can intercept the groundwater level. In this case, the water stored in the aquifer can invade the excavation preventing the continuation of mining activities. To facilitate continuity of operations necessary to use the portion of the ore body continues in quotas below the water table, the operation of lowering the water level becomes critical. The operation of lowering the water table by installing a battery of wells, which operate jointly, the necessary permits lowering of the water level before compromising ongoing operations. As the area of influence of mining enterprise, social environmental disorders major, with the possibility of interference by the regional water system may occur, if not in compliance with the technical standards of installation and operation, and relevant environmental regulations. It appears so, the importance of using this device in open pit mining, mineral exploitation for achieving, with due regard to the environmental implications arising from this operation in the areas of direct and indirect influence of the mining venture, aimed at preventing environmental damage. In this context, the present work will discuss the installation and operation of wells deepwater lowering observing the technical, environmental and legal this device to enable the exploitation mining in Brazil without, however, want to discuss the matter in its entirety .
