OTIMIZAÇÃO DOS PARÂMETROS DE TRATAMENTO TÉRMICO DE BOLAS FORJADAS EM AÇO ALTO CARBONO LIGADO AO Cr, Mo, Nb SUJEITAS À SEVERAS CONDIÇÕES DE IMPACTO: OPTIMIZATION OF THE HEAT TREATMENT CONDITIONS OF FORGED BALLS MADE OF HIGH CARBON STEEL WITH Cr, Mo AND Nb ADDITIONS SUBJECTED TO SEVERE IMPACT LOADS

Neste trabalho as temperaturas de têmpera e revenido de esferas de aço alto carbono ligadas ao cromo, molibidênio e nióbio utilizadas em moinhos de bola para tratamento de minérios foi variada com o objetivo de se obter o melhor compromisso entre dureza e tenacidade. Bolas com boa tenacidade e dureza igual ou superior a 50 HRC foram obtidas nas amostras temperadas e revenidas a 400oC.

In this paper the quenching and tempering temperatures of high carbon chromium, molybdenum and niobium alloyed steel balls used in the mining mills were varied to achieve the best hardness/toughness condition. High toughness balls with hardness equal or higher than 50 HRC were obtained in samples quenched and tempered at 400oC.
