Resumo

O desenvolvimento de novas ligas de magnésio para aplicações em altas temperaturas tem sido objeto de estudo nos últimos anos, principalmente pela indústria automobilística interessada em diminuir o peso dos veículos, visando uma melhor eficiência no consumo de combustível e diminuição na emissão de gases poluentes. O principal elemento de liga nas ligas de magnésio é o alumínio, que aumenta a resistência mecânica da liga através de endurecimento por solução-sólida e pela formação do composto intermetálico
