Resumo
Typically forged steel cold mill work rolls are manufactured with a nominal chromium content of 2%, 3% or 5% based on the roll specifications for a given mill application. The metallurgy of these alloys has been well documented through extensive research. The purpose of this work is to study the physical metallurgy of 4% Chromium Molybdenum forged steel rolls. The influences of melting, forging and final heat treatment (Full Coil Static Induction Hardening Process) on the structure and properties of this alloy are discussed. Mill experience is included in the analysis.
