Resumo

Titânio é um importante elemento de liga em aços de baixa liga e aços livres de intersticiais. Por ser um elemento forte formador de carbonitretos, ele é empregado para controlar o tamanho de grão austenítico. No entanto, o titânio precisa estar disponível na forma de solução sólida na austenita para resultar na formação de carbonitretos. A quantidade de titânio disponível em solução depende da interação deste elemento com o oxigênio ainda na solução de ferro líquido e a eventual precipitação de óxidos. Com o objetivo de melhorar a compreensão das interações entre titânio e oxigênio no ferro líquido, este trabalho apresenta uma avaliação crítica preliminar dos dados termodinâmicos do sistema Fe-Ti-O na região rica em ferro.

 

Titanium is an important alloying element in high-strength low-alloy and interstitial free steels. Since it is a strong carbonitride, it is employed to control the austenite grain size. However, the titanium needs to be available as a solid solution in the austenite to allow carbonitride formation. The amount of titanium available in solid solution depends on the interaction of this element with the oxygen in the iron liquid solution and the eventual oxide precipitation. With the objective of improving the understanding of the thermodynamic interactions between titanium and oxygen in the liquid iron, this work presents a preliminary assessment of the Fe-Ti-O system in the iron-rich.
