Resumo

Os revestimentos DLC têm apresentado maior introdução no mercado brasileiro ao longo dos últimos anos. Estes revestimentos são depositados principalmente por técnicas de PVD e PACVD, possuem excelente resistência ao desgaste, não incrementam significativamente a rugosidade inicial do substrato e geram baixo coeficiente de atrito. Estas propriedades fazem destes revestimentos as principais alternativas para aplicação em diversos segmentos da indústria, tais como usinagem de ligas de alumínio como uma alternativa na substituição do PCD (Polycristalline Diamond Compact), ferramentas utilizadas em cirurgias odontológicas onde se deseja redução da geração de calor e em componentes automotivos gerando baixo coeficiente de atrito na interface peça e contra-peça. Neste artigo serão abordadas as principais propriedades dos revestimentos da família DLC, alguns processos de deposição utilizados e como estes revestimentos podem ser utilizados na indústria brasileira.

 

DLC coatings have shown more penetration into Brazilian market in the last years. These coatings are applied mainly by PVD and PACVD process, they have excellent wear resistance, do not increase substrate original roughness significantly and generate very low friction coefficient. All these properties make these coatings good alternatives to several industrial applications, for example in the field of aluminum alloys machining to replace PCD (Polycristalline Diamond Compact), for dental drills where its very important to keep low heat generation during drilling and for automotive components to reduce friction coefficient between part and counterpart. In this article will be discussed the main properties of DLC coatings, some coating process technologies in use and how this coatings are being used by the Brazilian industry.
