Resumo

O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar quanto o valor da resistência à flexão biaxial da vitrocerâmica dental IPS Empress 2 (Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Lichtenstein) varia com o tipo de prensa utilizada na confecção do corpo de prova. Produziu-se 10 corpos de prova (cp) da vitrocerâmica IPS Empress 2 na espessura de 1,5 mm e 17mm de diâmetro, das quais 5 em Prensa Ivoclar e 5 em Prensa da Dentsply; após os acabamentos superficiais, todas as amostras foram testadas em flexão biaxial, seguindo Norma ASTM. Não houve diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os resultados de resistência à flexão biaxial em função do tipo de prensa usado, mas houve alguma diferença entre as médias que ser decorrente da necessidade de uma melhor adaptação da prensa alternativa ao trabalho específico.

 

The objective of this study the influence of the heat-press injection machine to prepare the test-sample bars on the results of biaxial flexure strength of the IPS Empress 2® dental glass-ceramics (Ivoclar Vivadent, Schaan, Lichtenstein).Ten test- bars of the IPS Empress 2® were produced (dimensions: 1,5mm thickness by 17mm in diameter): 5 by using Ivoclar’s Heat-Press and 5 by using Dentsply Cerampress. After surface finishings, the samples were tested according to ASTM F394-78 standard method. It was not observed any statistically significant difference between the flexure strength results from the two different pressing machines, but averages’ differences suggest an addition care to better fit the alternative heat-pressing machine for the specific job.
