Resumo

Nitinol é uma liga equiâtomica de níquel e titânio (NiTi), que possui a propriedade de retornar a sua forma original após deformada, a esse efeito se dá o nome memória de forma. Outras importantes propriedades do NiTi é a biocompatibilidade e a superelasticidade. O objetivo do trabalho é caracterizar propriedades mecânicas (ensaio de tração e microdureza) e metalúrgicas (tratamentos térmicos e metalografias). Com aquecimento do material em forno até 540°C seguido de têmpera foi obtido mudança da memória de forma e verificado a superelasticidade do material. A fase martensítica, que é caracterizada microestruturalmente por grão em formato de agulhas, é a fase onde o nitinol pode ser deformado enquanto na fase austenítica ele retorna a sua forma a qual foi “memorizado”.

 

Nitinol is a equiatomic Ni-Ti alloy, that possess the property of return to the original shape after deformed, because this effect is called shape memory. Another two important properties of the NiTi alloy are the biocompability and the superelasticity. The objective of this work is to characterize mechanical properties (tension test and microhardness) and Metallurgical (heat treatments and metalograph). By heating the material to 540°C followed by a start of hardeness change of the shape memory was gotten and verified the superelasticity of the material. The martensitic phase, wich its characterized microstructurally by grain in format of needles,is the phase where nitinol can be deformed while in the austenitic phase it returns to his original shape.
