Resumo

Foi avaliada a tenacidade à fratura (via ensaio de impacto em corpos de prova sem entalhe) de três aços ferramentas, similares a norma AISI D2 e M2, e um aço para trabalho a frio com 8% Cr. Foram utilizadas duas rotas de tratamento térmico à vacuo: têmpera e revenimento tradicional e têmpera por um processo criogênico especial, denominado CRYO

 

The fracture toughness (by impact test in unnotched samples) of three tool steels (AISI D2, M2 and a cold work 8% Cr tool steel) has been evaluated. Two different vacuum heat treatment processes have been applied: conventional quench and tempering and a special cryogenic process called CRYO®. The obtained results show that the cryogenic process produced improvements in toughness of all tested steels. These results show the positive effects of the CRYO® process and are in accordance with the available literature of cryogenics processes in tool steels.
