Resumo

Cálculos teóricos termodinâmicos foram realizados para determinação das fronteiras da janela líquida (região contendo somente fase óxida líquida em equilíbrio com aço líquido) a fim de contribuir para a compreensão das condições termodinâmicas associadas com o clogging em válvula de distribuidor durante o lingotamento contínuo de aços. O presente trabalho foi realizado considerando o aço com a seguinte composição química: 0.35% C, 0.25%Si e 0.5%Mn. As fronteiras da janela líquida foram modificadas pelo teor de oxigênio (20 a 40ppm), enxofre (50-250ppm) e alumínio (100-400ppm), bem como pela temperatura (1550 e 1650ºC). O objetivo deste trabalho é reconduzir a parte fundamental dos cálculos computacionais feitos por Holappa e colaboradores, usando-se, contudo, ferramentas computacionais e bancos de dados modernos e atualizados.

 

Thermodynamic theoretical calculations to find the boundaries of the ‘liquid window’ (region containing only liquid oxide phase in equilibrium with liquid steel) were carried out in order to understand the thermodynamic conditions associated with clogging of the tundish valve during the continuous casting of steels. This work was done using a steel with the (total) chemical composition: 0.35%C, 0.25%Si and 0.50%Mn. The ‘margins’ of the ‘liquid window’ were modified by oxygen (20 to 40 ppm), sulfur (50-250 ppm) and aluminum (100-400 ppm) content, as well as by the temperature (1550 and 1600 °C). Aim of this work is to redo the fundamental part of the computational calculations made by Holappa et al. making use of a modern thermodynamic software and databases.
