The development of sustainable composites aims to mitigate the environmental impacts caused by the production and use of synthetic materials. This study investigated the behavior under mechanical flexural loading of composites consisting of a polyurethane (PU) matrix derived from castor oil reinforced with whole titica vine (Heteropsis flexuosa). The samples were manufactured at reinforcement volume fractions of 45%, 50%, and 55% and compared to the pure matrix. The incorporation of the bio-reinforcement promoted significant increments in both flexural strength and stiffness of the material compared to the pure resin. Tukey's statistical test revealed that the variation in fiber content exerted no significant difference on the flexural strength among the fractions. However, a significant increase in stiffness was observed when comparing the 45% and 55% contents, indicating good interfacial compatibility and effective chemical interactions between the matrix and the titica vine. The composite demonstrated high ecological potential by reducing the polymer matrix consumption by up to 55% without compromising the resin's mechanical performance, establishing itself as a viable alternative for sustainable, low-carbon technologies.
