An alternative way of superficial treatment is the mecano-chemical method, that consists on a hardening deformation of the surface thanks to the rubbing of an abrasive load on the sample in humid condition. Then, it is a soft treatment of wear. The behavior of pieces in different industrial applications, especially of light no-ferrous materials as the aluminum has a special importance. Therefore the objective of this work consists on the characterization of these surfaces hardened by this method. The samples utilized were of aluminum 6063. They were treated by mecano-chemical method. These samples had the following dimensions: 35 x 100 x 8 mm. The samples were shot penned and tried in a barrel that presents a turn around their axis and with different abrasive load. They were carried out by 3 stages until to obtain a specular surface. In each stage the rugosity was measured. That measurement allowed to carry out the evolution of the work kinetics. Once carried out the mecano-chemical treatment, the characterization of the surfaces was made by means of micrographs obtained by MEB, RX difractograms, micro-hardness and wear tests. The results presented show that is improved the superficial state of the samples treated. Therefore, it is a method that is necessary to consider for applications in the industry where are required characteristic special superficial of the materials employed.
