Resumo

Increasing needs of very high resistance to cosmetic corrosion, of more extended service life and reduced maintenance costs for infrastructures, civil and industrial buildings, open niches of application for coil coated stainless steels. A new product line of resin coil coated stainless steels called VIVINOX® is presented. These products are available with one or two side coatings, primerized only or top finished on substrates such as AST (Acciai Speciali Terni) 409, 430, 304, 316 cold rolled steel. Coil coating guarantees a high level of metal-resin due to on-line application of proper surface preparation, which is very difficult to achieve in discontinuous painting. It also minimizes wasting of toxic liquid and gaseous emission. Primerized surfaces help to increase quality and productivity of subsequent fabrications such as foam insulation applications, local painting operation, spot welding, according to the specific formulations of the primers. The excellent corrosion resistance of VIVINOX® products have been assessed by salt spray tests up to 2000 hrs and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The workability of VIVINOX® products has been assessed by manufacturing several components for buildings and constructions real furniture.
