This paper considers the forward rotating air seal of GE CF6-50 engines, which is located in the high-pressure turbine. The welding process employed for repairing this seal (which is made of Inconel 718 alloy, a nickel-based alloy) is the pulsed wire Dabber TIG. The most relevant features (responses) of this welding wire were its height and width. The aim of this paper is to compare factorial experiments of the 2⁵ type with two replications (64 runs), one replication (32 runs) and a fraction of a complete experiment (16 runs). It has been verified that the results with lesser runs (16) can characterize the optimal parameters for the Dabber TIG repair welding of the seal.
