This work presents the development and application of planned internal adjustable guides segmented assembly guidelines for a fixed conveyor chute, aiming to reduce the cutback of blockages and misalignments in conveyor belts for iron ore loading. The methodology involves computational simulations using the Discrete Element Method (DEM), with parameters calibrated for Sinter Feed ore. Different operating configurations, such as rates, were verified, identifying that blockages occur from bottom up, and the load centering by regulating the opening of the discharge section (internal adjustable guides) varies directly with the material configuration and rates. Based on the results, the proposed solution involves adopting interesting guidelines that allow for variation in the opening, proving efficient for adverse conditions such as the discharge pulley being positioned further forward than the receiving belt and the low useful height for material transfer. After implementation of the new chute, the results indicate that the use of international guides with specific openings is a versatile and efficient solution for existing arrangements, especially in scenarios with a high degree of complexity for alteration. After the implementation of the new chute, the results indicate that the use of internal guides with adjustable openings provides a versatile and efficient solution for existing systems, particularly in scenarios where modifications are highly complex. A 60% reduction in downtime due to belt misalignment was observed, along with an 11% increase in the effective loading rate and an 87% reduction in chute blockage hours per unit of material handled. An additional benefit was the decrease in maintenance downtime required for installation: the shutdown period at the pier was reduced from 12 to 5 days (58.3%), driven by the segmented mechanical design of the chute arrangement.
