The roll shop of a steel mill is a small but important part of the production chain of the mill. Subject of this paper is to demonstrate some possibilities for improving the effectiveness of a roll shop operation. Items covered include: Optimized material flow; Automated Grinding Operation; Grinding of Rolls with Chocks-On / In Chocks; Roll Shop Computers; Auxiliary Equipment.
