Resumo

The high content of alloying elements, and the two-phase structure of duplex stainless steels, cause a complex transformation and precipitation behaviour. This leads to difficulties, as far as the production of extremely thick-walled castings is concerned. Precipitations in the ferrite can develop, due to an improper solution heat treatment. These precipitations do not only have a negative influence on the mechanical properties, but they also decrease the corrosion resistance, because of a local depletion of alloying elements. To study this precipitation, isothermal annealings within the temperature range from 1000 to 1300 °C were carried out on three ferritic-austenitic cast alloys: G-X 4 CrNiMoN 27 5 2, G-X 3 CrNiMoCuN 26 6 3 3, and G-X 40 CrNiMo 27 5. Apart from the determination of the ferrite content, a chemical analysis was carried out on all alloying elements. Besides, the resistance against pitting corrosion after ASTM G 48 was investigated.
