Resumo

Continuous Casting of Steel into slabs has reached a high maturity, with more than 80% continuous casting ratio worldwide. The operation must be continuously optimized to improve product quality and reduce costs through modernization of equipment and integration of advanced modeling and automation tools. The work presents technological packages developed by VOEST-ALPINE Industrieanlagenbau (VAI), including a cassette mold with optimized design and hydraulic oscillator, as well as a system combining dynamic secondary cooling (DYNACSB) with SMART segments for dynamic soft reduction (DSR). These technologies enhance process stability, improve internal and surface quality, increase productivity, and allow better control under transient casting conditions.
