Resumo

Siemens VAI have considerable experience through many generations in the development of solutions for blast furnace technology. This paper will review the future for the blast furnace with reference to two specific objectives. The first objective is to consider future developments for the blast furnace process. This analysis will consider specific projects being executed and the latest technologies being applied within them. The second objective will review the potential for alternative technology to the blast furnace. This will include a comment on the involvement within the European initiative for reduction in carbon dioxide emissions – the ULCOS project.
